Despite advances in design and maintenance practices, their mechanical complexity and the highly dynamic loads they are subjected to make them a critical part of the system.<\/p><p>The occurrence of damage is not always directly associated with the primary component affected. In many cases, it can be linked to degradation or wear in secondary components that alter the mechanical behaviour of the drivetrain, accelerating the development of additional damage mechanisms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fec1e7c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fec1e7c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In this case, during a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) carried out on damage identified in several gearboxes of a 3.0 MW wind turbine platform, a technical inspection campaign revealed significant wear in the torque arm supports of the gearbox first stage.<\/p><p>Based on this finding, an engineering study was conducted to evaluate the influence of this wear on the load distribution within the structure and its potential impact on gearbox service life.<\/p><p>To achieve this, a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) model of the gearbox first stage was developed, enabling the assessment of different degradation states and the evaluation of their influence on the identified critical areas under various operating and loading conditions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-043a9e2 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"043a9e2\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-extended\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column
